What is the ‘Russia Roadshow’?

The Russia Roadshow will serve as the central concept of the 2008 Russian Economic Forum. It is the next stage in the evolution of a well-established annual gathering that brings together many key decision makers from Russia and abroad, including CEOs and CFOs from many of Russia’s leading companies.

Why a ‘Russia Roadshow’?

Russia’s image abroad, and perceptions of ‘country risk’, have an undeniable impact on the success of any companies looking to raise capital on global markets and conduct other international business. The ‘Russia Roadshow’ will address these concerns directly. As a roadshow of ‘Russia plc’ - and not of any one particular company - it will showcase the nation’s investment scene as a whole. London is Russia’s most important gateway for foreign investment, and the logical location for an event of this nature.

What will be the main components?

The Russia Roadshow will consist of a number of key elements. Taken together, all these features will give participants an excellent overview of the Russian business landscape.

The traditional structure of the Forum will not radically change. However, the focus for 2008 will be very much on investment opportunities in Russia and the growing phenomenon of Russian investment abroad. In addition, there will be a number of new features for the conference:

A series of presentations by individual companies and Russian regions will give the international banking and finance community an in-depth look at the best opportunities available across the country, sector-by-sector and region-by-region, with a focus on small and mid-sized companies as well as larger financial-industrial groups.

A number of thematic sessions within the Forum programme will be dedicated to finance and investment-related themes. These will include a roundtable with leading CFOs, a discussion of ‘sectors to watch’ and other panels.

Parallel one-on-one meetings between institutional investors and CFOs.

Special stress in Forum plenaries on issues related to finance and investment.

The Forum will culminate with the Bull and Bear Banquet (BBB), on the evening of Tuesday 22 April 2008. This follows the first-ever BBB, which took place on Sunday 9 December 2007, on the eve of the Global Investment and Finance Forum in Moscow. This gala dinner will bring together leading figures in the London and Moscow banking and investment communities, and leading Russian companies, in a highly exclusive setting.

Who attended the Global Investment and Finance Forum?

The Global Investment and Finance Forum was organised by Eventica in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Moscow on 10-11 December 2007. The conference attracted such leading names as Alexei Kudrin (Russian Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance), Leonid Reiman (Russian Communications Minister), Anatoly Chubais (CEO of RAO UES), Chris Gibson-Smith (Chairman of the London Stock Exchange), Arkady Dvorkovich (Special Economics Adviser in the Russian Presidential Administration), John Peet (Europe Editor of The Economist), Oleg Vyugin (Chairman of the Board of MDM Bank), Roger Munnings (President of KPMG Russia), Alexei Gurin (Chief Executive Officer of CentreInvest Group), Ruben Vardanian (Chief Executive Officer of Troika Dialog) and many other well known personalities from Russia and abroad, to look at the impact of the liquidity crunch on the Russian economy and other important trends. Michael Klein of Citigroup was guest speaker at the Bull and Bear Banquet on 9 December.
