After opening its doors to the West in the late 1980s, enduring the ups and downs of the 1990s, and building on the record-breaking economic growth of the past decade, Russia is now at a new stage in its modern history.
In recent years, Russian companies have made major acquisitions around the world and raised billions of dollars in record-breaking IPOs, and the government is now managing two sovereign wealth funds worth in excess of $150 billion.
Today, Russia is far more integrated with the world economy than at any time in the last century, and ready to look outwards for new opportunities.
In response to all these developments, Eventica launched a new project in April 2008: the Russia Investment Roadshow. The inaugural event was held at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London, taking the place of the well known Russian Economic Forum as the company’s flagship conference. It will next move to other locations, starting with Dubai in November 2008, with plans already underway for the Far East and other destinations around the world, and a return to London each April. We are proud to be working with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), Russia’s most influential business lobby, who will be co-organiser of all these initiatives.
Each Roadshow will look at Russia’s increasing dominance as a global economic player, and the opportunities this creates for foreign investors in Russia and for Russian companies investing abroad. We will also explore the growing influence of other new financial centres around the world - in addition to Moscow - against the background of the credit crunch, which has helped to accelerate a process that has already been building for many years: the move towards a truly multi-polar global economy.
This new site – www.russiaroadshow.com – will be specially dedicated to the Russia Investment Roadshow.
